Registered Nurse - Med/Surg

Franciscan Healthcare is looking for a Registered Nurse to join our Med/Surg team. This position plans, implements, and evaluates the care of all patients across the age continuum. This position provides care on the patient care floor, ER, OB/Nursery and Infusion.   

Hours: Minimum 36 hours/week to include days, evenings, weekend, and holiday rotation.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess and organize patient data to develop an individualized plan of care and discharge plan.
  • Prioritize, plan, and provide direct care to assigned patients.
  • Provide positive customer service to patients and their families; keep all informed of services being provided. 
  • Initiate, implement, evaluate, and revise patient teaching plans as needed to meet the patient’s learning needs.
  • Document all care given to patients in a concise, efficient manner.
  • Relay pertinent information through appropriate documentation and referral to other health team members.
  • Maintain quality patient care by following professional standards, policies, and procedures. 
  • Support an environment conducive to professional practice by functioning as a role model and resource person; Responsible for fostering a team orientated atmosphere.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

Education and/or Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska
  • Basic Life Support or ability to obtain within probationary period
  • Experience operating equipment in ER, OB and Med/Surg unit with minimal assistance preferred

Other Competencies

  • Interpersonal skills requiring courtesy and tact are necessary to communicate effectively
  • Medium strength with lifting of 50 lbs. occasionally, 25lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly (Lifting over 35 lbs. requires assistive devices be used)
  • Requires full range of body motion with frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching
  • Ability to properly lift position and transport patients (with assistance as defined)
  • Ability to change from one duty to another frequently
  • Analytical skills to organize and prioritize workload to meet patient needs
  • Ability to stabilize unsteady patient when ambulating
  • Ability to record information accurately and follow instructions exactly
